Virtual Seminar on Staphylococcus aureus Treatment Studies

On September 25th 2024, ACTION Sweden hosted a virtual seminar on studies concerning the treatment of serious infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus.

During the seminar, which was attended by over 30 participants, Malin Hagstrand-Aldman (Lund) presented the COMeBAC study, which she leads. This is a randomized trial comparing treatment with penicillin and cloxacillin in cases of bacteremia caused by penicillin-sensitive S. aureus. Jonas Tverring (Helsingborg) then spoke about the SNAP study, which he coordinates in Sweden. It is a large adaptive study on the treatment of S. aureus bacteremia.

Anita Hällgren (Linköping) followed with a presentation of a local Östergötland study on measuring cloxacillin concentrations in S. aureus bacteremia.

Following the presentations, a Q&A session was held, moderated by Magnus Rasmussen (Lund). It was a productive discussion that showcased the strength of Swedish research in acute infections. Through collaboration, we can improve care for our patients!
